Aziz and Nikosh

When I arrived in Holland I named my teddybears Aziz and Nikosh. At that time I couldn’t talk or walk yet. Aziz and Nikosh became my imaginairy friends.

My mum was curious about the meaning of Aziz and Nikosh. And one day she met the famous Persian-Dutch writer, Kader Abdolah, at the presentation of one of his books.
She told him the story about my bears and their names. He explained to her that the meaning of these words are ‘baby’ or ‘sweetheart’.

So my first words spoken were the ones I had been hearing at the orphanage all the time.
And still to this day, Aziz and Nikosh, are a part of me.
